Today, Castroville is famous for its variety of authentic traditional German restaurants. We think there are more than a few spots — both Alsatian and American-syle — that you absolutely shouldn’t miss if you’re in town, so we wrote this guide to help you get the most out of your Castroville dining experience. Looking for a relaxed atmosphere and foods that’s simple and satisfying? The Castroville Cafe is your quintessential low-key spot for a light meal and great cup of coffee. The cafe building is actually a retrofitted old house with multiple rooms to sit in. Original wood floors give everything a rustic, homey feel. The menu includes salads, soups, sandwiches, plus grilled steaks and seafood. The menu changes daily, but some of our favorites have been the fried egg sandwich and a terrific Cuban sandwich!

This humble old building houses one of Castroville’s finest Alsatian traditional restaurants. A meal at Alsatian Restaurant is something to remember, and we think it’s the perfect place to come with good friends and family. The atmosphere inside is rustic and cozy, and there’s a pleasant courtyard and garden outside to enjoy when the weather is good. Coming with a large group? Ask them about private party accommodations in the root cellar underneath the restaurant! Customer favorites include their sausage and salmon, but FYI — there are also vegetarian options!
